Tell us about your past race/running experience: I ran my first Half Marathon with my BFF about 2 years ago. It was the Rock n Roll Half Marathon in Las Vegas and it was super exciting. Then I ran a 10 mile race, again with my BFF, in Philadelphia. Since then I have been running a few 5Ks here and there. And try to run every other day to burn calories, de-stress and keep in shape – not necessarily in that order. 🙂
What race did you run? I ran the Moms Rock 10K in Floyd Lamb Park, Las Vegas, NV on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 7:00 a.m.
Why did you sign up for this race? I signed up for this particular race because it was over Mother’s Day Weekend in Las Vegas and, as your website suggests, I wanted to complete a race that was challenging for me. It had been a while since I had run longer than a 5K so this fit the bill – plus it allowed me to start planning my surprise wedding. 🙂
What/Who inspires your to run? My best friend, Michelle Stewart, inspires me to run and stay fit.
What is your best training tip? I really enjoy mixing it up – running every other day, strength training and I love love love Yoga!
Water or Sports Drink? Water and Unsweetened Chocolate Almond Milk
Tell us about the outcome of the race: I finished around 1:28. As much as I trained I thought I would have done better however I did stop and take some pictures….the mountains are just so pretty. 🙂
Your favorite post-race indulgence? I married the “love of my life” at 5pm at the Bellagio on the Terrazza.
Favorite part of racing in a Team Sparkle skirt? I love what Team Sparkle stands for…how we encourage one another to be strong…be awesome….be beautiful….on that day I felt all of those things because both me and my BFF/Maid of Honor were wearing our Team Sparkle skirts! 🙂
